Reliable Production

SHISIEDO works hard to ensure strict quality control in order to deliver the highest-quality products to customers worldwide. Our company adheres to regulation standards for Good Manufacturing Practices set forth by ISO(the International Organization for Standardization), in fact we used those as guidelines to create an even stricter set of standards for our company to follow. We established the “SHISEIDO Good Manufacturing Practices” as a self-imposed standards for reliable manufacturing products with outstanding quality. This code is practiced in all of our production facilities around the world.

There are many different properties and forms of the beauty products SHISIEDO offers, from skin care lotions, emulsions, and creams, to makeup foundation, mascara, and lipstick. SHISEIDO selects the best production process according to the form of every product to ensure the creation of reliable, high-quality products.

At SHISEIDO we also build own production processes to maximize the quality of the products offered to consumers. For example, some processes are conducted under a low oxygen density inert atmosphere in order to reliably combine unstable, easily-degradable effective ingredients. The atmosphere is also controlled with clean air to prevent the entry of outside dust or dirt in the air. This strict level of hygiene is upheld 24/7. We allow ourselves no compromise in delivering safe products to our customers.

The air shower as a daily routine

Since we create cosmetics that come into direct contact with human skin, we maintain the most stringent hygiene management standards for our plants. Before entering the production area, our staff must change into work wear and follow the set entry procedure:

  1. 1.Clothing decontamination: A vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment is used to remove hair, lint, and dust on clothing.
  2. 2.Hand washing: The palm, back of the hand and the area between fingers are thoroughly cleaned with soap.
  3. 3.Air shower: Air is rapidly cycled through a sealed area to remove even tiny dust

The clean room, the pinnacle of hygiene

The production area is home to the “clean room,” which meets especially strict hygiene standards. This is where products such as cosmetics for sensitive skin are manufactured. The clean room features high-performance air filters as well as an air pressure adjustment capability to prevent the influx of outside air.

Use of special clothing inside the clean room

In order to enter the clean room, workers must change into a specially designed and treated antibacterial suit.
The suit uses dust-repelling material, and is in a single piece from head to ankle. The wrists and ankles of the suit are lined with a 2-layeredstructure that completely partitions air flow between the inside and outside of the suit. Shoes are also changed to a fully waterproofed footwear, and gloves and masks are worn.
