On April 17, 2012, the award ceremony for the "Luxe Pack Art of Packaging Award" was held in New York. Katsuhiko Shibuya, who is the Executive Creative Director of the Advertising Creation Department, received the recognition as a representative of Shiseido.
"Luxe Pack Art of Packaging Award" is an artistic award hosted by Pratt Institute, which is an art school in New York, and is presented to companies that design highly artistic packages each year.
At the award ceremony, Heidi Manheimer, who is the CEO of Shiseido Cosmetics America, introduced Shiseido's "Customer-First" corporate stance by stating "Shiseido is a company that treasures 'Omotenashi.' By communicating with customers with the spirit of 'Omotenashi,' we can not only provide products but also establish trust relationships. This spirit is also utilized in our package designs."
Shibuya, who gave a speech after Manheimer, quoted the words of Shiseido's first president, Shinzo Fukuhara: "Let the product speak for itself." He went on to state "Shiseido has always aimed to 'manufacture products that communicate with customers without explanations.' Although everything we produce represents Shiseido, I consider the role played by package designs to be especially big. I am much honored to receive this prestigious Packaging Award."
